Inside a typical village home - Tanjore district

Posted by Sunder (Chennai, India) on 3 October 2010 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

Agriculture is still the main occupation in rural districts of Tamil Nadu.
Tanjore ( now known as Thanjavur) is known for its paddy fields and rice production.

Village houses are typically tile-roofed and are consrtucted with beams and pillars made of Burma teak wood as shown here.

It is a lovely trip down my memory lane to think of the summer hols during which time we used to go to the country side and spend time with our grandparents in the village....the sights and smells of village ....farms/fields...animals...ponds....
