This pedestrian bridge ( built 1966) across the river partly collapsed after heavy rains in Monsoon due to strong currents of the river.
Proposals to repair and renovate this bridge have been sanctioned by the Government...
but still standing upright.. nice shot

I suppose your comment " A bridge to nowhere" would have been a much better title.

@kate: Yes, Kate..It was once a lovely bridge..Of course now the river runs dry...
A huge structure... but the riverbed is very shallow. The river must rise with the rain?
8 Aug 2010 6:06am
@QB: Yes, indeed, at times of heavy rains, the water level rises..though now during summer it runs dry..
Thanks for your comment.
Touchant ce pont coupé qui ne relie plus rien, suspendu au vent de l'abandon !

@Tamara: Thanks for your comment, Tamara..
Well, we understand that the proposal for renovation has been accepted...only time will tell.
The presence of pedestrians allows us to visualize the dimensions of this construction. The repair would be useful because the staircase is a little high, now ! :)
