Earthern Pots at a Potters Exhibit...

Posted by
Sunder (Chennai, India) on 27 September 2010 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

These pots are wholly hand crafted on a Potters Wheel.

The clay is first "de-aired" to remove all air. They are then shaped on a Potters wheel , dried and finally "fired" up in a Kiln at high temperatures. The colour obtained is natural colour of the treated earthen ware. No artificial colouring is used.

I did toy with the idea of converting this to B & W,but chose not to do it, in order to show the natural colour that heated clay assumes...

it reminded me a very well known Persian poem of Khayyam the Iranian famous poet and mathematician :
بر کارگه کوزه گری رفتم دوش /
دیدم دو هزار کوزه گویا و خموش/
هر یک به زبان راز با من گفتند/
کو کوزه گر و کوزه خر و کوزه فروش/
if i find its translation i will send.
