Thottil (Cradle)...

Here we go, my customary questions(Sorry Sunder!) Are the ropes there to keep mosqito netting away from the cot, or is it in fact suspended from the ceiling? Anyway, what a great shot, love the texture in the wood, and that cot looks as though it would last for many generations

@CElliottUK: Here, the ropes are used to suspend the cradle from the ceiling.. However more commonly iron chains are used for suspending...in this instance, the iron chains were removed to de-rust and oil them well. You can just about see the rusty iron rings on the cradle to whihc the ropes are tied..... And of course, these are passed down generations....

Cela ressemble à s'y méprendre à une balançoire! J'aime bien le jeu des lignes (avec les cordes) et l'encadrement de l'ouverture nichée dans le mur!
Bon dimanche lumineux et chaleureux!

Is the cradle suspended to provide motion? Almost an optical illusion here. Most interesting.
