Our "Colourful" Village Library....

Posted by
Sunder (Chennai, India) on 18 August 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This library in our village stands on the main street and is flanked by the Village temple on one side and a house on the other.

The need for a library in such a remote village was envisioned and materialised more than 50 years ago - by my great-grand-uncle ( my granddad's uncle)....

It is ironical that while he was a "visionary", .... he ,sadly, lost vision in both eyes due to an easliy treatable condition -(glaucoma) in the 70s ..and spent the last decade of his life-not sighted.

Loss of vision did not deter the mans zeal for life and he continued unabated in his pursuit of rural development.

WhAt a sad story about his eyes, but an inspirational story about his vision
