Our "ancestral" temple and "ancestral God"

Posted by
Sunder (Chennai, India) on 20 August 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

While there may be many temples in every village and town, each family have their "own" ancetral temple, which is used by generations of each famliy to pray and seek blessings....
In tamil, this ancestral God is referred to as "Kula Deivvam"...

So when a girl gets married, her "Kula Deivvam" also changes to that of the husbands....something like how the surname changes for women - after marriage -in the West.
